Why did you start practicing?

A friend offered me a Yoga mat.

Following a conversation with a friend about anxiety I was experiencing, resulting from stress at work and due to other personal issues, I was having at a period of my life.

So, out of curiosity I decided to try a Yoga class.

Why Astanga and Mysore style?

Coincidently as I was searching for a Yoga class, I found a place in my hometown of Coimbra, Portugal that had scheduled a weekend “Introduction Workshop to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga”, so I guess I was lucky because that was enough for me to start practicing.

Mysore style appeals to me because while in a group setting, I practice at my own pace, yet with the guidance of the teacher.

At Mysore Yoga CPH I found a friendly space to continue to practice. Helena is kind, dedicated to her students and is able convey her experience and understanding of the practice towards the particular need of the student.

What inspires you to keep practicing?

I noticed a correlation between being consistent with the practice and the benefits I started to gradually experience, so that motivates me to keep practicing simply because it helps me in so many ways.

What are the benefits of the practice for you?

Practicing regularly calms me down and helps me be less reactive to daily challenges. It helps me to redirect my mind to whatever I am focusing on. Also, this practice because it is quite intense, helps me to keep physically fit and energized.
